Help MK1 re-wiring

Hey guys !
First off to make this clear, I took on an abandoned project and I myself refuse to abandon it no matter what.
If I have to pay someone to help me do most of the work, then I will.
I'm completely new to everything I'm attempting at doing, but I won't give up !

It's a 76 mk1 golf that has had a VR6 conversion. I think the previous owner's intentions were to convert the interior to the mk3 as majority of the wiring has been changed over. I've tried researching everything I can on the whole wiring thing and it is so difficult to understand all of it, as I'm a newbie -.-

My personal intentions are to fit a mk4 dash in there and change the current wiring over to the mk4.
This brings me to my next question .. Does anyone know of someone who would be kind enough to offer their services to help me make this possible ? Again, money is not an issue either. Probs just lost respect for asking that question too but oh well, I'm trying to learn .. I just don't want to make any rookie mistakes and wreck everything else in the process.

I'm open to any opinions, ideas, and criticism .. negative feedback is still feedback.

I remember a MK1/VR6 conversion on Gumtree/Carsales a few months ago. At the time I thought it would be a great project but there's a lot of work to be done. At least you have the right mindset and lack of money isn't going to stop you.

Be prepared for a steep lurning curve.

Thanks for the reply Paul.. I am more than well prepared, believe me.
I'm located in Sydney atm.
I should have posted the pics in here, they're all in an album on my profile.
There's not much I need done to get it running. Currently doesn't start but hopefully soon I can get it going.
The wiring is all over the place, majority of it is all working tho.

Matt at Camden GTI should be on your hit list to talk to. He knows lots of things about putting VR6 motors into old Golfs. If you don't mind going a little bit further south then Peter at Canberra VW Centre (located at Kiama, near Nowra) would be the number 1 guru on MK1 modifications, especially putting in later model parts. You should also see Brian at GTI Imports, he's been doing engine swaps in old Golfs for at least 30 years and imports lots of nice stuff.

All these guys should be able to tell you what you need to do to get your car finished. For a fee Matt and Peter can do the work but then you don't get the satisfaction of doing it yourself.

If you were closer to me I'd love to help but the 300k drive to Sydney means it isn't something I'd do frequently.

Dash swaps to mk3, and mk 4 are difficult, even more so to mk 4.

Not the kind of mods I'd start off with first tbh.

Start small. Get it running, get it going. Try and get it registered/engineered (Good luck with that by the way) and then start looking into modifying/personalising it.

Agree with Jarred, I'm sure OP has searched, one example VWVortex.com - Mk4 dash swap into Mk1

The amount of dash modification/trimming, wiring, etc is overkill, at the end it doesn't look like a Mk1 anymore.
