i found the best angle to pull from was directly across the throttle shaft from the firewall side towards the rocker cover. with a 20mm lever arm you need about 25mm pull through to get full throttle movement.
I have wacked a webber on the car.
We have made up a bracket to position the cable in the right spot however secondaries barely get moved. I went out and bought a half moon cable thingy from a gemini in the hope it would roll off that... I am yet to get the tie off for the cable and see if this solution works.
How have others overcome this problem?
Thanks.

What sort of carb arrangement is it?
- Vacuum secondaries
- Mechanical progressive secondaries
- Mechanical secondarie's that open at the same rate as the primaries.
