If you've got a manual, read the section about removing & refitting the dizzy & read it carefully TWICE! Then follow the instruction's to the letter.
its all about the RTFM mate, ill go back and redo it, refit it and check out my main jets.

It still puzzles me why the dizzy was so far out of whack. Re do it tonight, I'll bring mine over if you need to see how the leads plug back in or something?

    EDIT:

We known the flywheel and piston 1 are "matched" ie, TDC on cyl 1 corrosponds to the mark on the fly wheel (we've check through the spark plug hole)

Is it possible that the top end (cam, valves) aren't "in time" with the bottom end? as if perhaps Josh missed a tooth when refitting the timing belt and the bottom end, is out of sync with the top end?

What about the intermediate shaft? If that's out of whack, could that explain why the dizzy was so out of whack?

    Timing is totally out boys.

The top is probably a tooth out. Check the bottom and top timing marks. Then when they are right, take the dissy cap off and make sure the arm is pointing at the corner of the block.

Then all you have to do is put the leads on right. 1 4 3 2.
    Good Luck.
