    Easy test to see if it's lean..

    Pull the choke on 1/4 or 1/2 way and take it for a drive. If it runs better and has more grunt, and stops pinging, it's too lean.

    hmm that means i have to hook up a choke cable

    this is really puzzling me at the moment.

    Yeah just use something to hold it stuck open.

    It'll sound like its got a massive vacuum leak at idle, but don't worry about it.
