I have a mate who restores cars and a few years ago he was offered a genuine XY GTHO that needed some real work for $25k.
He refused it as he was busy with other cars. he could have done all the work himself quite easily.
He kicks himself whenever he thinks of it.
    to that I say

The resale price for Mk1s here is rubbish. No one can reasonably ask a 'good' price for one. I really see the only 'value' is in genuine GTIs, GLS 2drs and Caddys, though. TBH, I think $4,000 is too much for a 5dr LS in that condition given the prices that Mk1s sell for here.

It looks like the interior has been changed to GLS spec...

With mint GTI's fetching $25K overseas it's only time before regular models fetch decent wedge. Nice one Costa!

For sure - if you can get $4k for it, who wouldn't take it!! It's just a shame our prices are so low here That said, it's good people can get into the scene for cheap too

    Come on.

Please don't remind me of how GTI prices are going up.

Wonder what none rusty, smashed up ones are worth? Only a few feet shorter

Perfect reminder of why you should fix it up

There will be another mint mk1 GTI coming onto the market soon too...
