    help with brakes?

    Hey all,

While attempting to test fit my rikens with new H&R spacers to the 78 GLS (the 77 does not have any guards at the moment) I came accross different brakes to what are on my 77.

They have a VW and Audi symbol but can not see any parts numbers.

    Anyone know what they are?

    Cheers

    Yeah dude.

I take it they're in an email? If you have a photobucket account, you can just email them to photobucket and it uploads them automatically.

One kind are probably early diesel brakes, the other are early petrol ones.

    Both are rubbish and ineffective.

Chuck em away and get Mk2 / Mk1 GTI Calipers and brake disks and have brakes that work.

Also the later calipers are smaller and will probably fit under the wheels.

There were two types of calipers fitted to the GLDs. I've had cars with both types.

This is the other type which uses the same pads. This is the better design. Odd thing is that the type you have on your car have left handed threads on the hose fitting into the caliper. The type below have right hancded threads. If you change your calipers you'll need new hoses to suit.
