Nasty... didnt get rego?
Hi Guys,
Unfortunatly I got rear-ended the other day at the lights, and the lady did a runner... Now I’m left with a fair dint in the rear, a flattened bumper, and a smashed windscreen.
I’m after opinions as to how bad the panel damage is in the rear, sorry if it’s hard to tell from the photos, let me know if better photos are needed.
Also, what is the best option for replacing the windscreen? Get one second hand, or is it possible to get one new without selling the house?
I already have a new windscreen seal and the silver sealing strip.

Winscreens new can be had for around $220 at the low end or more than $300 at the high end.
From the look of the inside shot, its quite repariable. Personally, I'd tackle it myself, but a panel shop would manage it pretty easily I reckon.
The bumper is probably the most difficult thing to replace.
Very sad for you - man I would be fuming if that happened to me.
Now, I assumed you meant front windscreen... of you mean the hatch glass.... well second hand is probably your best option.

Cheers guys, Yep I got the rego and took it to the jacks but I hav'nt heard back from them. I'm not insured and most likely she isnt either, so even if they fine her for not lending assistance I won't see any of the cash..
Where would I go for the new windscreen? And is there a thread on here about fitting it, my search came up empty.

I wouldn't be calling her a lady......![]()
I may be wrong but from my understanding this is basically the same as the golf windscreen in fitting and removal as its the same rubber seal with chrome insert.
Happy to be corrected if im wrong but 80% its basically the same

Fitting windscreen is not hard but you'll need a helper to push the screen while you pull the string inside the car, fitting the chrome insert is harder without proper tool.
I have brand new rear bumper bar under my house if you need one.

Cheers, I will probably try to get both front and rear bumpers new as the front is also bent a little on both corners.
Yes it is the front windscreen, really dont know how that happened, the screen must have been in pretty bad condition to start I suppose.
