GLD timing belt off centre - how to resolve?

    Hi All

I checked my oil level a few days ago and had a look around the engine bay.

I noticed that the timing belt under the cover looks as though it has moved off centre and needs to be moved back into line.

From the front of the car it has moved to the left.

How can I fix/ rectify this?

    Thanks

depends why its moved. Could be many reasons. First check the belt tension - should be able to justturn it about 45 degrees between the injector pump and hte camshaft pulleys with your thumb and forefinger quite easily. If not, its prob too tight. Then check the tensioner/belt smooth side for signs that the tensioner bearing is worn.

Also check that all the bolts holding in the injector pump are tight - there are 4 in total - 3 on the flange on the front of the pump, and 1 at the back of the pump down below the injector lines.

If all of that is OK, the belt may simply be worn or old. If the belt is slightly 'conical' (stretched more on one side than the other) then it may run off centre.

your injector pump bracket could be bent, but its fairly unlikely. However, you should check the bolts holding the bracket to the block.
