    Flashing oil light??

Since fitting the Preeny donk to my Cabby, there has been an annoying flashing oil light problem.... I checked connections, swapped oil pressure switches and also found that it would go away sometimes when the car was warmed up. Have now put brand new switch in, and at 1st start afterwards, light stopped flashing, but returned again whilst driving it.

There is a stupid noise coming from the dash (only while the light flashes), which makes me think the guage is suspect...

Is it possible that with the older Mk1 motor in a Cabby with updated instruments, that something is not compatible.

(oh and BTW, yes there's oil in it and it would have seized by now if there was no oil pressure!!)

Any ideas greatly appreciated, and will have car on display on Sunday at Vic. DOVW too....if I ever get to wash it !!

    hey mate,
IIRC, there are 2 oil pressure sensors for your old (later) setup - one on the top of the oil filter housing and one on the end of the head. on hte old mk1's, there is usually just the one on the head. you might try swapping the old oil filter housing off your old engine onto the new one, along with sensors.

also, there is an oil warning buzzer (the stupid noise) that is fitteed to some clusters, so no reason to suspect the guage.

Yeah, I was thinking the same thing this arvo, after looking at the photos of the old donk. The old engine has already gone to Pete Jones, so too late to pull the oil filter assembly off, so might look at other options in the engine bay or under the dash tomorrow.

(did get rid of the dull dash alternator light, by putting my old altenator back on...maybe the earlier ones on Preeny's motor has lessor output or just perhaps kaaputtt ?!!)

your car may have come with two pressure switches, (high and low) and I think preeny's engine would have only come with 1.

I think you'll have to fiddle with a couple of different pressure switches and wait till you get the right one! (there are a couple different ones, and a couple different setups through the yers)

Thanks Jarred...got it sorted on Saturday with a new pressure switch and by connecting both sensor wires to it.

(tried this previously with an old switch, but light still flashed )
