There are a lot of Mk1s on 5x100 wheels, and a few different ways to go about it. You can buy some PCD adapters from 4-5x100, but this will lop about 20mm off the offset of the wheels making them stick out more.
Or, you can run VR6 rear hub carriers and rotors on your Mk1 (and of course the disc rear end) and convert the front end to late model hubs aswell - requires modification of the tie rod ends and front strut strut bodies (all detailed in search on VWVortex). The front brakes would also need attention then, too - the 280mm or 288mm VR6 brakes would be nice, but also need the bigger master cylinder etc... everything has a knock on effect...
You can also buy the special 5x100 front hubs from one of the BergCup suppliers - these press straight into Mk1 wheel bearings etc. They're also fairly good value. This is the only way I'd do it, unless you have a good understanding of steering geometry and/or are confident with a welder... going to the larger front wheel bearings by using Mk2/3 hub is handy in a race car or one with wider track than standard, though.
