Fitting an ABF motor in a 2009 mk1

Hi guys, a mate of mine has just bought a mk3 gti ABF and he wants to do an engine swap into the mk1. the mk1 is using mpi ecu with a ffz gbox.
Will the abf motor be a straight fit into the mk1 and will the ffz mate straight onto the motor?
    Help would be much appreciated.

FF box will work so long as you have the small shaft clutch driven disc to go with it.

ABF will fit in bay mechanically but is a little taller so you might have clearance issues with the bonnet.

You'll need special extractors to suit 16v in MK1 chassis.

Oh just realised you said 2009 MK1, also just realised where you are.

What motor does the car have now?

If it's a 1600/1800 derivative what I said above should be OK. If it's got one of the small block motors you might have to weld in an engine mount.

FFZ looks to be a very late member of the 020 series so should work OK but may not be the strongest. Whatever clutch disc you use has to suit the gearbox input shaft.
