    excuse the noob: ENGINE NUMBER

golf got rwc today and the mechanic said he couldn't find the engine number and got it off rego papers in the glovebox, i checked the the owners manual and it said its on the front of the block below the join of the head and block but i could not see it. now with the diesel the throttle body is in the way a bit but there seems to be two empty screw holes?? is the engine number stamped on a plate and affixed to the the engine, or is it stamped on the engine and im just blind?

if its a plate can i get a replacement?

engine number is stamped on the block, right where the head and the block join, infront of cyl No 3. might be blocked a bit by the radiator hoses.

They will, if you get one of the old guys who knows his ****. From my experience, the babes don't really care, but the old bastards will deny you if they can't find it.

yea, they'll have to see it, cause it's a new rego.

like was said, degreser and then some WD40 and a light sand if needed. (worked on mine)
