FYI I've just put the Golf up for sale. Spur of the moment thing after the BBQ yesterday, might change my mind tomorrow. Hahah. But for now here's the link: '76 Mk1 Golf 2.0 16V 3-Door - Finished Project!

So as I said before, I kinda did change my mind about the sale of the Golf and I never got around to taking new photos of it or anything like that. I took the car along to the VW Watercooled Summer BBQ the other week ..

.. and even did some shopping at Ikea.

Then this happened. It was really weird, I don't know who these people are they just wanted photos with it on Pitt St and I happened to be standing right next to it.

Last this weekend I found his mate in a backstreet of Meadowbank. I also put 15mm spacers in the back and 7mm in the front which has given it the look I wanted with the wheels.

I'm not pushing the sale of the Golf. He's kinda growing on me again. I was planning to head to the VWMA drags this weekend but it was cancelled due to rain. I ended up at Advan Performance with a mate getting his Golf R flashed, so we put the Mk1 on the dyno as well to see what it could pull. Since it's been on the road I've been really curious to know how much power the little guy is making and I finally got to find out!

It made 103.7kW at the wheels, or just over 140hp in the old money. I'm really pleased and impressed with that. As far as seat of the pants goes it's always felt like enough power to have fun, and it's super torquey, but to crack triple figures was really cool. Sounds quite good with the new exhaust in the video too.

You can see that it leans out a bit towards the end which I will talk to Peter Bower about, but the power curve is barely even that, it's nice and even just like it ought to be. Stoked.

You would have had more KW with the head lights off!

100+ is a great result. I'm not even sure I'd have that out of the 2.0 ABF in my cupra

You're inspiring me though! Must catch up for a meet soon too.

Well deserved accolades at the GAD. So nicely kept that it has retained the soul of the MK1 instead of having stupid bits bolted on. There is something special about the MK1 that I love that everytime I see one I can't contain the excitement.

The end result of this yellow one is amazing

    Is it still for sale?
