I should probably update! I went to check out the Mk1 and it is indeed starting and running, but not well. For some reason it's only firing on three cylinders. I didn't spend long checking it out, just drove it out of the mechanic and around the corner to the paint shop. It's in there right now getting fixed up and looking perfect.

Fingers crossed I can pick it up early next week and get it all put back together including running properly. Yet to work out what the issue is.

My steering hub adapter finally arrived, and the legend who is Mick/mikinoz hooked me up with the driver's side grille piece I needed. So keen to have it complete!

The ATS Type 5s arrived and were sold almost immediately to Aydan/gldgti which was excellent for us both. Can't wait to see them on his Cabby. I'll be fixing up the set of Mk3 steelies I've got and fitting new tyres to them for the time being. I have my eye on another set of wheel centres which will need to be built up, but I can't afford them, so that's something for future me to work out.

Pretty much it. Just waiting on this spray painter at the moment. Not easy with all these new bits and pieces turning up!

He's back! Painted and running on all cylinders. We worked out what was causing the miss, but it does need a visit to Peter Bower for a retune.

You probably can't see much difference in this shot, but all the little things have been done. The roof was painted, the entire driver's side was painted (from that middle strip down), passenger quarter panel and panel under the windscreen.

Super happy with the finished product. Colour is matched and it all looks great.

Here's a shot of the finished interior. I put the Momo Prototipo on last night which I'm really happy with. Tonight I'll keep going with a bunch more of the little things. Rego is coming up soon!

By the way I went and saw Peter Bower on Wednesday. Champion.

Car looks better than mine, makes me feel neglectful. Bloody close now.

Yeah just the outside. I wasn't going to pull all of the interior out again. Haha.

Oh yeah? I've never actually been out there, only spoken to him on the phone. I'll have to book in with him to retune the car now that it's running.

Got a few of the little details done the other night.

Had to chase the old thread on the shifter as it was properly ruined. I'd never done this before. Bought a tap and die set Friday lunchtime to try out that night. One YouTube tutorial later and we were in business. Worked out great!

New one fitted up. Feels good.

Wanted to spruce up the badges before putting them back on the car. Grabbed a paint pen and did some colouring in.

    Came up nicely.

    Did this bloke as well.

    Finished product.

For some reason adding the badges makes it feel so much closer to 'finished'. Fitted NOS taillights which I picked up at the Nationals a few weeks ago.

Bought a 16V badge as well for a little subtle hint as to what's in there. Haha.

Put the grille on as well but I need to take it off and work out why the driver's side headlight sits in a lot further than the other side. Got the front lip on though, but you can't really see it that well here.

    Getting there.

Took all the wheels in to a tyre shop down the road this morning. A buddy has loaned me four new tyres so that I can get the steelies onto it and pass rego. I'll pick them up at lunch.

I really wasn't happy with the way the grille was sitting, so I took it all apart last night. Had to adjust the headlights and swap the chrome and badge off the middle section onto the other one I had which was much straighter and had more of the mounting clips intact. It looks perfect now! So stoked with how it turned out.

The rubber pads for these pedals were split, so I went a bit racecar on them instead. Not sure how this will last but wanted to give it a try. Haha.

With the new tyres on it, there's very little left to do. The bumper brackets leave Perth today but won't be here for over a week. I might put the plastic bumpers on and take it for a blue slip.

I have this thing where I really want the car to be 'finished' before I take it for rego, but realistically it's pretty much ready to be inspected now. I'll see what happens.

I love this thing. Would love to tidy up a Mk1 myself one day, this'll be inspiration! Good job mate.

I'm in Cherrybrook, where abouts will I see this on the road?
