    I've also had to carry out this mod as well using mk1 shaft's. I used the standard outer CV's & have only hammered one of them.

    Also after nearly 300+k, my inner 100mm's started to grind on big bump's (that & the car was already low), so I removed both the inner's & swapped the gut's of them around & never had a problem since. They say you shouldn't do this, but I thought I'd give it a go anyway.

    how the hell can you go through that many?

    I've only ever done one CV & I've rally bashed, dragged, burnout's (incl. reverse), raced, jumped etc. over a 400+k period.
