    The motor

    Boom tish
Here all night folks, remember to try the Chicken

You can adapt things like the tanks but new fuel pumps, the Mk1 doesn't have any electronicary of a moden common rail, all mechanical. The petrol motor wou put in will actually be more complex as it has an ignition circuit
What motor are you looking at?

    It's pretty straight forward.

Motor with suitable fuel system, carby , efi etc.

Electric fuel pump if your motor doesn't have a mechanical one. You'll need a fuel filter to suit as well. Ditch the diesel one.

Wiring for the ignition system. If you're using a points dizzy you need a 12 coil of the NON resistor type. You can run that off the wire that goes to the diesel pump now.

EFI will need all of it's stuff wired up if you go down that path. Remember pumps etc will need mounting and wiring up. Likewise with K-Jet.

Exhaust will bolt up to an 1800, 2.0L too if you're lucky.

Radiator hoses should be the same, there might be some messing about with the heater hoses.

    Sensors should just move across.

I'ts worth replacing a bunch of stuff while the motor is out.

Diesel isn't too friendly to rubber parts so you might need new mounts and hoses.

Do the shift linkages while the motor is out too, much easier that way.

You need the correct engine mount for your new motor too. (The one near the pulleys.)

The diesl one can be modifed if you can't find one to suit.

For the electrics all you'll need to run is an electric petrol pump and a coil. Both need to be wired to your existing fuse box off a connection that only has power when the ignition is turned on. Make sure you wire them off a fuse that can handle 20 amps and on the side that won't have power if the fuse blows.

You don't want a high pressure pump otherwise it's going to flood your carby.
