There may have been a few 2 door Diesels here. I was talking to an old guy who drove a 2 door diesel as a demo at one of the VW dealerships in 1979ish.
I reckon there were probably some, but they all got turned into petrol injected ones in the 90s.

I've also heard of the swap being done from petrol to diesel.
it wouldn't be hard, esp if you have a complete donor car.
