It is nice, but I don't think that look is compatible with Mk1 .

    look at the quote again.

he was talking about how it looks. the athstetics of the dash, not the fit requriements.

I'd keep my eye out for a cabby dash. I prefer early dash's though myself.

    Wow, great response! Thanks guys
I'll be following up on this in a month or two, as I've got months worth of parts to go on the car as it is!

I'll be looking for a cabby dash with everything needed for swap.. anyone who wants to PM me a price is welcome

16v kid - what does your GTI dash look like? Does it have the red trim like this:

I think all the screws fit in perfectly, you might need a pop rivet or 2...
    But up to you...

    i wasn't doubting the fitment.

Let me spell it out real simple like.

Yes it should fit straight in. Pity it would look sh*t in a mk 1.

Been chatting to a UK mate about the dash conversion, he reckons I'll need to source the lower dash and centre console sections, as Cabriolets had knee bar and padding which isn't for standard hard top.

So, the top part of the cab dash will fit, but I'll need to find lower dash tray and centre console?

If I do need to find these sections, what have you guys used in the past?

    Cheers
