    Dash wiring for RWC.

    Hey y'all,

after salvaging the blue beast in march, i have ticked a lot off my to do list...

    body-

    Gti arches *
    crosshairs*
    upswept exhaust*
    mk2 style grille*
    straightened chrome bumpers*
    replacement front drivers quarter*
    hard cutt and polish*
    repaint all exterior black trimming*
white retro 15" rims with low profilers*

    engine/running gear-

    replaced screwted driveshaft & CV*
    machined front rotars*
    referb rear drums*
    replace timing belt*
    replace plugs and leads*
    replace all hosing*
    rewired ignition and coil*
    full oil change*
    empty/clean fuel tank*
tighten brake clutch and throttle cables*

And left to do is wiring the dashboard...

the previous owner had a shot at replacing the LS dash with a newer GLS dash... hmm surely the are no different..
anyways... basically nothing has ACTUALLY been reconnected... the dash was just re mounted and made to look pretty

SOoooooosooooosooooo... all i need to get roadworthy is headlights, indicators and demisters working prime.. is it hard to do?? are there DIY's around?? or should i get an auto electrician to charge me a crap load and do it properly??

oh and i did all of the above listed (includiing the cost of the car) for under 1500 bucks gotta be happy with connections!!!! and forums

if you are keen on doing much work on the engine or electrics yourself,
maybe you should consider getting a workshop manual... would be very helpful for things like this with diagrams etc.

as for headlights, indicators, etc.. I believe it's pretty simple in the mk1s... you're not wrong about auto electrics charging an arm and a leg :\

Wiring on a 76 is unique to that year or earlier only, if the latter dash from the GLS is a different year ( likely) then you will run into issues, You will need a good wiring diagram from each year to see what you will have to relocate ( remove wires from plug positions and replace in different positions)

The 76 uses beetle wiper and indicator stalks, thaty have different pin positions for the later plugs and fuse box layout.

The warning lights could also be different from the early to the later dash, includes the foil circuit on the back of the cluster.

Fan switch, blower motor are different to

Been there and done this... get ready for a headache.

    Lots of MK 1 Scirocco's...

If it aint a MK 1 then it must be a donor car ??
