    Sorry to hear that dude!

As Pete said, swap in a bigger and beefier engine!

PS: how's the interior? Can I swap drivers seats with you if you want to get rid of it?

Serious, just drop in an 1800, they sell for $350-$550 any day of the week and they transform the car.

The motor is about the easiest thing to fix on a Mk1, don't loose heart !

Find out the cost of repairs before you make any decisions. Maybe it won't be that much.

All older cars give grief when first brought. According to my Golf Owners manual I purchased at DOVW your 0-100 time

will be around 18 seconds, and on to a top speed of near 140! - Think of the fun you'll have with that!

    Best of luck

    Michael

Matt at Camden GTi can hook you up with Complete mk3 1800 for $500 to your door.... I know cause i bought one about 6 weeks ago

Only difference is the top radiator hose, and you'll need a electric fuel pump setup

Hey, I've actually hit 140 in a mk 1 GLD. Going down hill a bit. On a closed road.

please don't strip it or wreck it. It' looked to clean for that. If you don't want to give it the love/attention it needs, pass it on to someone that does!
