And congratulations on the work you're doing. From someone who didn't know much you've certainly impressed a few people. Your Golf is something you should be very proud of.![]()
You should be ok to vent the crankcase like that. Just be sure to check that any oil thrown into the filter can easily make it's way back into the block.
Mine has a rubber tube coming up much higher into a metal container with a view window on the side so I can see if there's any oil inside.
Those carbies look great, check the English forums for info on getting a manifold. They have quite a few cars running bike carbs.
Cheers
Paul

Thanks Paul! Much appreciated!
I want to do a oil catch tank at some point. But funds are sadly limited so the filter will have to do for now.
Instead of wasting money on fabricating the inlet manifold (or trying to) myself, I took the safe route and ordered a manifold from UK. Can't wait for it to arrive!
I've started pulling the mk2 wiring loom apart. Baby steps! I'm way out of my comfort zone when it comes to the electrical aspects of this project. I had hoped I was done with it by now but sadly not. It's gonna be a few weeks before I have the time to cock about with the wiring again.
My new inlet manifold is here!
But sadly I'm going away on vacation. I don't have time for vacation! I want to fit the carbs! Dammit!
Sorry but we won't let you go on vacation. You have a car to rebuild.![]()

I've tried explaining my better half that the car is more important. She didn't agree... At all!
We had a "boys" night out last week racing slotcars. My brother got a phone call from his wife telling him her car had broken down and to come rescue her. He told her he would come when he's finished racing and left about 3 hours later.
I think he's still married.

Haha. I don't think I have the balls for that! I know I wouldn't get off that easy.
I trial fitted the carbs and manifold today. Had only a few minutes to spare so nothing more than making sure it all fits.
It's very tight! Haven't tested the hood clearance yet.
Bike carbs look the goodsany reason why go for quad bike carbs instead of lets say twin dellortos? Loving it buddy!
