Yeah that's true, it needs a certain type of interior in order to fit in! What is the wheel anyway? I want to keep an eye out for one that I can wrap

So not much of an update but I havent posted on this for a long long time.. this is what happens when you work 7 days a week, 5 of them being somewhat income-less? 😕 Havent had a whole lot of time to do much besides put new door cards in, rebuilt the webers, fixed some electrical/lighting issues and just overall, still enjoying the car itself!
The black carpet is still to be ordered, and so much more left to tick off the list! Might have to hit up someone about rebuilding the front O.Z's, i essentially want to take any need for spacers away (running 5mm atm) and run atleast 10mm less on the e.t. Could even do .5" larger lips and .5" smaller barrels? Anyone to confirm this?
The main thing that will be occuring is a build of an abf 16v I managed to get off Paul (sportsracer)! Thanks a million Paul! Will do cams and ITB's before dropping it in, just trying to get my head around the wiring and I want to possibly keep the original dash, despite it being alot easier to use the Seat dash?
Can anyone shed some light on the wiring situation between the mk1 dash and abf? I believe i have the older ceramic fuse box, so in terms of using the CE2 wiring from the Seat, what is the best aproach?
Cheers guys! Hopefully i can get the ball rolling again and start ticking more boxes off the list!

No wiring changes unless you're going efi use a set of twin webers/dellortos

Yeah i will be going down the twin weber/dellorto route, possibly dellorto? Heard they hold their tune better than webers?
But surely to wire up to a mk1 early ceramic fuse box etc, its a bit tricky? Not electronic savvy, trying to make sense of wiring stuff like diagrams off other forums like clubgti etc.
Like wiring to the dash and what sections to cut out of the Seat wiring that I wont need. Things like ABS etc obviously wont be needed, but what transfers over? Like ignition? (im running electronic atm) etc.
Not overly sure about how the 16v ignition works, but if you can source a mechanical advance distributor for the head, or mount the block distributor you already have (unsure if possible), you can use the electronic setup in the car already. In that case, you can just use the same wiring that's already in the mk1 with no ecu at all.
Running carbs and a dizzy you won't need complex wiring. Coolant temp, oil pressure, hall effect, alternator wiring, starter, thermo fan and reverse lights is about all that is necessary. You have all of these things in the current wiring loom for the 8v.
Dellortos are cheaper as well

Yeah when you put it that way, sounds pretty straight forward. If anyone else has passed experience, please shed some light! 😇
I think when i have the motors and looms in front of me, it might make more sense. Trace each wire one by one and bin everything not needed. Although apparently this 16v has been chipped too..
