    Clutch cable retaining clip

Recently when popping to the shops my clutch pedal went straight to the floor and I thought the worst!

Drove home with no clutch and had a look when I got home.

It looked like the clutch cable retaining clip had fallen off.

Bought a replacement and fitted it today but I can see why it fell off in the first place.

It looks like the clip is catching on a notch on the gearbox.

Can anyone tell me if it is suppose to be like this?

It also looks like the lever is going past 90 degrees when the clutch is depressed.

Ive taken a video to try and explain

    Thanks

    Simon

From the look of the above pic the metal clip is not seated on the rubber all the way, try spinning it around. If that doesn't help you may need to file part of the edge of the top clip down a little so it fits better. Hard to explain, in the above pic, the top new part on the right hand side edge, it should sit flat and flush with the gearbox lever. Also a good way to stop losing the clips in the future is to pop a cable tie around it all
    Hope that helps

Agree with SUMO. Your bottom clip needs spinning 180 degrees. (the single tab on the clip is to the top, the two tabs are at the bottom and they should be on the passenger side)

looks like your missing a rubber spacer/block that the retaining clip seats on..?

excuse the photo, i hope you can make it out..

from the clutch cable lock, it goes retaining clip, retaining clip seat, rubber spacer/block, clutch lever..

The rubber block is there. Its just thin compared to the one that was already in there. It works better for me as it catches less on the notch. I span the clip around and cable tied everything together as suggested above and all seems to be well for now.

    Thanks guys!
