    Exclamation The Chopped spring thread

So I want my car to sit a little lower.

What would the ride quality be like if 1 coil gets cut all round?

    Cheers Steve

done this on my first mk1 Steve. i think i cut a bit more than one coil though?

It wasnt too bad, just dont go around corners too hard .
but for my next mk1 i just went to repco and bought a set of lowered King springs for about $250. i would probably go that option.

i am guilty of cutting my fair share of springs, the ride quality will improve to a point , and then it just gets low but still drives fine

for the record i cut 3 coils off king low springs and it wasnt nearly low so dont waste your money there.

just make sure you seat the springs as you lower the weight back on

2 coils should be reasonable safe & should still maintain full contact with the perches. but I wouldn't go doing anything silly with em though.

probably won't lower it enough though. it'll do for and interum solution I reckon.

steve, imo i would just get them reset.. it would cost anything from $20-60 a spring, a lot saver dude!

if you wanna save money, try allsprings in moorebank (very well known plce) they can make custom height etc, very cheap..

dont cut, if you do.. hit a bump on a corner, your a goooooonner. ive seen it myself infront of me!

I can vouch for Allsprings, I had a set of Pedder Low springs reset by them, great service and no troubles whatsoever with the springs after they were reset.
