Can someone confirm 76 fuse box is different from 77 onward ?

I bought a Mk1 NOS fuse box from ebay recently (I know the seller is also one of our member). Although it was described as 'fit all Mk1 from 76 - ??). Now I just realised there are 2 differences
    1) The socket J is not in the new fuse box
    2) The socket M has one more little contact (total 6 compare to 5 in my Mk1)
and I just read this from Bently manual
Headlight dimmer relay (elimiated on 1977 cars) is at J
I find too many things that from 77 Golf doesn't fit 76 now

76er is a different fuse box to the 77on. 77on are interchangeable.
I am not sure if you can interchange from 76 to 77on. . My learnings are that you cant. New 76 fuse boxes are as good as impossible to get as well.
    Better contact the seller mate,
Sorry I cant give good news,
    Andrew

Thanks Andrew, from what I've compared their layout, 76 & 77on fuse box are not interchangeable. Oh well I have one more part in my Mk1 part bin now, probably eBay it back later.

You can use a later model fuse box, but the down side is its not just a plug n play effort, you have to get the manuals out then change some of the pin positions in the wiring harness terminal blocks,

CAN be done tho, changed Sam's 76 a few years ago to a later version of the relay plate ( C version) took a good 2 days on the weekend to sort tho.
    Lots of MK 1 Scirocco's...

If it aint a MK 1 then it must be a donor car ??

    Cheers,
    Grant...
