Welcome Mark
Hi all - I am new to the VW world (Alafa man) just bought a 91 Gold Cabriolet for my daughter... great car... BUT for scuttle shake... I know it goes with the territory to some extent... but do the lower front and upper rear strut braces help reduce the shake.
I have seen a comprehensive some in the US... that look like it would help.

Is it a bad vibration that you have, particularly when the car is at idle?
Check the engine mount on the RHS of the car in front of the driver, they collapse and cause vibration and scuttle shake.
The factory convertables are strengthened heaps at the karman factory, hence the kneebar under the dash and the one across behind the back seats.
They have swaybars as standard, but an upper strut brace may help the front. Universal fit ones are easily available in australia.
Welcome to the forum, hope you stick around.
