I got a spare horn you can have man, and I'll show you were it mounts. Pop around one afternoon this week.
Any electrically operated horn will do (not air horns). Mount it anywhere at the front.

golf went in for rego today!
it failed
only on some very minor points however
- left low beam not working
- reverse lights not working
- battery insecure
- oil leaks - repair and clean
- rear engine mount missing bolt (i was so dumb, i had the bolt sitting ready to go in)
- exhaust loose where extractors connect
- fit proper fuel cap
- rear tyres starting to separate (new tires are coming in soon)

I had fixed half the broken crap but that just meant it was still halfway inoperable
That's not too bad.
When are you taking it through again?
Sounds like it's almost ready then! Best of luck for the next time around

alright then, so the lights do actually work, i think they failed it because the LHS light is so much dimmer than the right, is this normal? how do i fix it. also, how can i make the reverse lights work. i also need to make the exhaust stop moving from the extractors back, any ideas?

Lhs must have a lower watt globe, check your fuses first and then globes if still no reverse check the switch on the gearbox if it is even plugged in if it is plugged in then most likely the switch is shot. And for the exhaust jus cheek if you have all the rubber hangers on Easy fix.
Good luck
Also, may not fix the issue but will help the cause, upgrade all the negative cables to thicker ones. Mk1 originally have very thin ones
- Orange Golf mk1 LS, 1.8 5speed, 32/36 - sold
- Golf mk1 Swallowtail rebuild, completely stripped
- Brown U.S import 81 cabby
- 88 Honda crx b18cr
the exhaust being loose has been fixed aswell as the oil leaks, so thats 2 problems down, 6 more to go. can someone please explain to me where the switch for the reverse lights is on the gearbox, i have no clue about what it looks like, where it is etc.
if i have any time tomorrow im going to go to repco/supercheap and try to find a new bulb for the LHS light, and find a battery clamp and locking fuel cap at the same time.
