I'm using the turbo one size down from that http://www.turbobygarrett.com/turbob...S_739548_1.htm
The disco potato (such a ridiculous nickname!) gt28rs. Boost comes on at 3000rpm but thats on a 1.8l 16v. On a 2l like this ABF it should spool up a fraction earlier I'd imagine.

I'm assuming that's on your S3, though, which has the benefits of AWD and 700 more kg, so that turbo is way off what I'd want in a flimsy 700kg Mk1!!

I've already over-specced the engine, as we designed the car for around 300hp... so there are some issues to now address:

    - Gearing is too short (3.94 FD from 3.67), though it does now have a Gemini LSD. I can reinstall the 3.67, but what a PITA job!
    - 195 section front tyres (!!)
    - Rear springs, especially, are too soft, and I don't want to change them, as I'll be changing the suspension soon
    - I need to lose the side engine mounts and use cups (much like is done for Mk1 VR6 swaps), as they can't take the torque... I should have done this earlier, but admit to cutting corners on this one!
    - Cooling is another big issue, and front space is very limited. A lot of the US Mk1s run the Spearco water cooled IC's, but I'm not so taken by the idea. The other option is to convert to a semi-space frame front end, but this is out my league
    - I also have the smaller wheels to go on the car, which is only going to create more problems. I'm now looking at going to 16s when the car is used on the track...

There are loads more things to look at, and I don't see the car being finished properly until the middle of next year Cheers

Anyway the car looks great, good luck with the last few hurdles.
I did wonder about the cam timing. I've actually got a 9A intake cam, which might be worth dropping in, as the ABF one is fairly aggressive, as are my 260s, which would be even worse! I also have some Kent individual verniers, but haven't heard anything good about them!

The head is nicely ported for mid range, so the gas speed is quite good down low (this is another reason I didn't choose an equal length header, as they're too big-turbo oriented).

I may well be jumping the gun anyway, as there is a lot more work to be done on the maps. I'd like to see close to 15psi at 3000rpm, though, so I'll report back on whether or not that's only a dream!!! I will have the antilag setup by then, though

Well, I've already booked to go, and I'd really like to make it this year, as the car will be scratched and chipped to buggery next year (I do intend to use it )... It all depends on whether the ECU gets back in time. I've not even heard from them yet :s I Have an SM4 on standby, but that will mean redoing all my wiring

So you'll be there, running or not? goood. I'd prefer it running, but wouldn't we all.

Besides you car is nice and light. I'm sure we can push it...

(hopefully that's inspiration enough to get it running )
