Nothing too exciting to report - currently wading through the usual niggling problems and trying to find good, small brakes without paying $5,000 trade I'll try to get some pics this week as things are looking better

    Cheers

P.S. In other news, I've given up and ordered a new Peloquin LSD and a used 02S (6psd) gearbox (with stripped 3rd gear mind you, so it was laughably cheap), so will get into rebuilding it in the coming months when I can afford the bearing kit!! I'm curious to drive the car minus an LSD for a (short!) while anyway.

Oh yeah, have also had troubles with ignition, which doesn't surprise me as the ABF trigger wheel is a pretty stupid design. I suspect it was my own fault when assembling the bottom end, but in short, it's all sorted now!

I'm currently working on a front cross member which will bolt to the four bumper anchor points and convert the front engine mount to a Mk2/3/Ibiza style, whilst also stiffening up the front end. I've heard a lot of stories about big power Mk1s tearing the front mount cup out of the slam panel, which frankly, doesn't surprise me as it's a weak as hell design. I'd like to have this in before I drive the car for too long, just for piece of mind. Black Forest make a similar part, but the freight charges to Aus are just not worth it, and it also needs to be bought from their US reseller as they refuse to deal outside US (pack of muppets need to get with the times, but that's another story!).

I also need to work on the harness mounts as these need reconfiguring aswell otherwise they won't engineer the car I've had someone look over it and he was happy with everything else, though, which is a good start as I really don't want restricted rego - I want to drive it far more than 52 times a year

I'm not spending $5k on the brakes - I'm trying to find some for a lot less I'm happy to use the Cupra ones until the nationals but I want the new wheels and brakes on by then. The first set I ordered were way too expensive, so a no go!

I added up the total amount on the car last night, which was somewhat painful. Both credit cards and my mortage are rather damaged, but you only live once I say

Good question - I've heard nothing but bad reports about Quaife customer service and nothing but excellent stuff about Peloquin's. The Quaife is also no good if you lift a wheel off the ground; plus it's more expensive and doesn't come with the diff bolt kit

They're 14s AP make very nice setups to suit 13" and 14" wheels. Some of the cheaper aftermarket brands are another option, but I haven't heard anything too positive about them Brakes certainly aren't something to skimp on
