    Brake drama

Hello everyone, over the last few days occasionally when I'm slowing to a stop (such as pulling up at a mates house) the pedal loses all hardness and presses straight to the floor with minimal braking. As soon as I take my foot off the brake and apply it again the pedal is hard and usable again. It feels as if it loses all vacuum momentarily. How would I find out what's going on and will my brakes fail whilst I'm driving?

Yikes, you obviously need to sort this out ASAP

Loosing vacum makes the pedal go hard and won't let the pedal drop to the floor

I would suspect a fluid leak or maybe a mechanical problem where the pedal is disengaging from the master cyclinder somehow

Definately, you have a failed seal in the master cylinder.

You can still buy seal kits for them (not too hard to fix) or you can try to source another master cylinder, which you can also buy new from various places (Tooleys, GAP, etc).

    Good luck!

    Thanks for the replies guys.

I'll keep my eye on the reservoir and let you know. As for fixing the seals, at the moment my budget is $0 as I'm having trouble finding any damn work and being my daily, I can't afford to have it off the road for too long....this suck ahah

Have a look for Peter Jones brake upgrade threads.
All the info you need to upgrade the booster and MC to a mk 3 item are there. A very worthy upgrade!
