The Mk1 has no subframe, but most 4 cylinder motors will physically bolt in. Provided you have the boltholes underneath the timing cover for the side mount, you are set.

ABF is a long block and is a pain to get in a mk1 as the stock manifold will hit the bonnet.

I know you can buy the outer skin new from VW

the outer bit on mine thats pushed in. havent pulled the guards off yet so havent had a chance to pull the rest of hte front apart. exams finish saturday
