Bottom end noise - oils to help reduce?

She goes great guns with the new webber but there are some noises down low.

Someone suggested that I put some thick oil to help reduce the noise. They even went as far as to put gearbox oil in it...

    What do you guys reckon?

    Front cut ?!?

Gearbox oil is a definate no no.

What engine oil are you using now? eg 15W-40 etc.

Depending on how bad the noise is I can suggest going to HPR. When my old girl ute was on it's way out, I went to HPR 50 (Its like gearbox/diff oil!). Cured all the noises, no more using oil & withstood another 2 year's of abuse before the good engine was built.

The main reason was, it was cheap if you had to top it up all the time & the grades go from 30,40 & 50.

There are heaps of other oils out there, but for a worn out noisey engine & can recommend this.
