If you claim insurance they will write the car off as the parts are no longer available.Seen that happen locally here!

Yeah i reckon i could fix it with a bit of mucking around in the press, vice (with soft jaws!) and a hammer, block of wood etc. Definitely doable. Pitty i'm a bit too far away to help you, mate!

Thanks people. I'll try to suss out some options ASAP and will do a little detective work to try to work out how/where/when/who did it (but I'm not hopeful).

And AlexG I'll keep you in mind if I need to get a new one.

BTW I'm insured with Shannon's for an agreed value which is much more than the cost of repairs or replacement parts so I really hope they wouldn't write it off over such minor damage.

    Cheers.

Can anyone recommend a good bumper straightener? I'm located centrally but will travel for a quality repairer.

I'd say getting new one from alex_g will be easiler and cheaper, you only need the bar, the rubber can be reused, except the end cap.

Alternatively try the " press, vice (with soft jaws!) and a hammer, block of wood etc." method yourself.

if i had gone to the insurance company after i pranged my golf they would have written it off. (only $1500 worth of damage) but then again i guess i did bend a rail.

    it takes skill
