the straps are to stop the axle dropping too much. Not sure why they use em on a golf,

Also, that bracket hinge bit is for a rear swaybar.
I had one that was setup like that.
I think it was a whiteline bar. It bolts there and same on other side. then bolts to the rear of car where those 2 jack looking points are. right at the rear of the car.

Spent a very short time today just grinding all the surface rust off and also removing tabs and the bigger tab where the horn was. I might put a sheet of metal over it to give it the shaved look, as i cbf closing each hole up.
Also, got bored, and this is the future plan. But with different wheels. These are going for sale soon

Lookin good man! They widened steels in the photo there? 15's?
Had some time to spare today and though id start stripping away the paint and grinding away the rust, followed by a coat. I have a deadline to paint the golf by the end of summer, so im spearing ahead.
Decided to do section by section as it will be easier for me to keep track of waht i've done and what has to be done. Was talking to Zale and he mentioned he was using White Knight Rust Guard metal primer, so i checked it out and hopefully it offers some good results. Should have more progress by tonight.

Anyways. I sourced a cabby fusebox from Dom, and just need to re-wire it to fit my loom and my electrics. Im hoping this will end the ****ty fusebox problems mk1's have. Anyone got any wiring diagrams for normal mk1 fuse box and cabby fusebox?
Also painted more today, but couldnt paint it all. Will get more done tomorrow. It came out pretty good i think

BAHAHAHAHAA... dude, now you can just see how packed i get with work, golf, and school together, that my brain fries, what i meant was before it gets too cold to paint anything without a spray booth
So anyway, apart from being stupid and forgetting dates and seasons, i spent 6 consecutive hours today stripping and ridding of as much rust as i can. Its bloody exhausting, and i am apsolutely dead.
Dont have work tmoro, so will continue this then, and will also try paint the interior

Boss called me and said i didnt have work today. So this morning i got to work and did as much as i physically could, before i almost fainted. I am honestly and truelly proud of what i have done, and dont think i personally could have done better. I have sprayed the rust stained areas that the grinder could not remove with rust converter, and i will have to leave the metal bare for 4 hours while i go to school now.
Nothing will happen to bare metal if i leave it for a small 4 hours would it :S ?
Massive shout out to my best mate Sezer for the help !

So i got home from school and cleaned the surface quickly and painted it before any rust came onto it. I am extremely proud of myself, and my small skills that i have. To get all this done in the tiny amount of time i have between social life, work and school, has suprised me. I really feel like i have achieved something great, as im still alot younger than alot of the forum members here, and my skills arent even 1/10 of theirs, and to think the work i have done so far, has honestly overwelmed me. To reach this part of the restoration, where almost all the rust from the notorious floor pan, and to have it painted etc feels really great at the moment.
Its almost 12 and i just finished work on the golf. Im out
