Managed to pick up some super cool vintage wind splitters! Haven't seen any around before, and even the package itself is yellow and faded! I'm almost sure the top pick (Bellow) is a mk1. Still haven't decided on them as the style I'm going for, but it's good to know I have them

So started my rails today. I was going to just use my spare rails and re make them to fit the recaro. But with owning all my mk1s, the seats have always been so damn high! So I re designed it going by a few build threads I've seen. Only issue is, I had made it all super low, hahahah I'm literally sitting on the floor! But I think it will grow on me!

Started by removing the old tunnel. Also made base plates 100mm wide by 3mm thick. That was super hard to bend to shape!





Then I welded it on bit by bit, allowing it to cool down.




Ended up fully welding it. My welding has seam to get a bit better, pete Jones, hope you can approve unlike much earlier in the thread haha!




Here I have welded in the square tube in. Decided to make custom rear legs to slide in, so I don't have to remove the old rails at the back. Less work at the end I guess. I still have a bit more work to so, and will see how I finish of the rear rails tomorrow!

That welding isn't too shabby. Heaps better than my efforts.

Changed my mind and finished the rear in a different option. Super happy with the turnout. One more side to do ..... I seriously need some proper metal drill bits. Took me ages to dril the holes haha
