thanks for the replies guys, but dont give me too much praise yet, theres still plenty more to do haha
it was pretty much a straight swap. engine, trans, looms, the lot - all went in, although i think its still on the mk1 driveshafts, ill clarify that this weekend when i meet up with my engine swapping counterpart haha.
as for more details about the swap, uhm?, well its one of the easier swaps to do as you dont need to change your mounts n ****. and the biggest hassle is the wiring, as youre probably aware mk1s seem to have a knack for nasty wiring haha. i thought it was all good when i picked it up, but ended up driving home in the evening/night with no headlights hahaha.
but that was just to do with some fuse box wiring that had been problemsome for my car since before the swap - it was all over the place, lol. since getting the car back i adjusted the play in the clutch so it was more 'on or off' style (which someone will probably tell me is bad for it) but it made it feel more like the old engine/trans.
i mainly chose this engine as it was there, and cheap, lol, (well the fuel economy and power boost were a big factor aswell) but also because the 2L 8valves are known for being a strong engine, which will help with my next modification haha stay tooooned yall..
That's very good news and thanks for the info. I have a 1995 Toledo as my daily atm and hate it with a passion due to it falling apart around my ears (mainly suspension, CV's, electrics and headliner actually) but the motor is terrific. I'm picking up my new Mk1 on Friday with plans to eventually donate the 2L to it along with its 5 spd, loom and hopefully functioning AC (might be dreaming about that - advice welcome).
As for your project I'm getting a sense that supercharging is on the cards? Yes?
I had a feeling that there was one on that yellow Mk1 now on carsales but could be wrong. Looking forward to the update.
