The good news is that the bluemobile is finally finished. Everything is back in one piece, and the car is ready for attempt #1 (which is hopefully the only attempt) at getting a roadworthiness certificate. General consensus is that the corrosion on the BBS alloys isn't anything much to worry about for the time being.
The bad news is that no amount of greasing the sunroof up will ever make it free moving enough for the motor to cope, so it's now purely just for show. Whoever has the car off me next can make it their mission to get it working, but for the intended purpose of the car (occasional weekend drive, but mainly trackdays) it's not a big deal.
Pics and blog over on justcars.com.au, didn't get any photos this weekend though.
Oh, and if anyone happens to have a spare mk1 GTi throttle cable knocking about, PM me please.
Now all I need is for my wife to chip in to our mortgage for a change so I can stump up the rwc and rego fees...

congrats!
good luck with the roadworthy. A few of us have done it a couple times before, so don't be afraid to ask for some advice or something/ (if you feel you want some, that is)
Sounds great look forward to seeing the pictures
Just noob curiosity but the awning at the top of the grill, are they mk1 or from mk2 grills? I really dig them, car looks mint too, props.
Driving the coal. Low and rattly.
Thanks chap, the jetwash helped - unfortunately the roof paint is beyond salvage thanks to tree sap damage, but other than that it came up pretty good.
The awning is just an aftermarket eyebrow grill spoiler the previous owner fitted. I never used to be a huge fan of them but I reckon it doesn't look too bad on a Mk1.
