Adapting the boot lock to fit a key

    G'day all.

I am wondering if anyone has managed to adapt a Mk1 boot lock to suit a key...

Having acquired my MK1 without any keys I have sucesfully managed to get the door locks to take the key which came with the new ignition (Thanks Loon for parts and guidance!). I have taken some photos of this process and can put them up later if anyone is interested?

Getting into the boot lock has me stuffed! Has anyone completed this task before?

I think that if you take the lock and 1 key to a locksmith then they should be able to sort it out for you.

I reckon you can pull them apart of you are careful. Rearrange or file done the tumblers to suit the key and slam it back together.

Yeah that is the plan but it is opening the thing! The door locks were easy but the boot lock appears to be impenetrable! Might bite the bullet, fork out a few notes, and get take to a lock smith! I will watch him though and find out how... One day someone will want to know again!

I completed that task a while back because my old boot was rusting, you need to get an impact screwdriver and a hammer ($20 from supercheap auto) and you will be able to get the lock out and replace it with a new one if you like or whatever you want to do.
