    81 mk1 aircon?

Is it worth keeping an aircon unit in a mk1 cabrio?

Cant wait to rip this baby out and respray the bay and clean it all up wires etc. The bay looks like its in pretty good shape but since im respray the whole car might as well do it in one hit

If it works, keep it. If not, sell the bits. Try to keep the lot of it complete.

Personally, I'd keep it and even if it doesnt work, fix it. We've done many km in our cabby, and if we had air con, sometimes it would be even more enjoyable.

If it's factory aircon, then I'd say keep it...

If it's crappy aftermarket unit like in mine, then I'd probably ditch it...

FYI the ONLY genuine MK1 factory air conditioning was on left hand drive vehicles ( of which you have ) all the RHD versions are bastardised poor replicas of the LHD units.

The Factory A/C heater box set up is totally different from the non A/C versions, however the A/C set up is primarily the same between golf/ rabbit , Scirocco 1 and Jetta 1 models, only a few minor differences between each .

Parts are available either Europe ( limited ) or the US ( more prevalent ) I have a complete set up for my Mk1 LHD Scirocco, so if your after info PM me. Good luck

Changing the York reciprocating compressor to a rotary type will save you some room and power !!
    Lots of MK 1 Scirocco's...

If it aint a MK 1 then it must be a donor car ??

    Cheers,
    Grant...
