Congratulations.
Does the make it 4.9L/100km? If so, fuq!
Sounds and looks like it's already better than mine.![]()
SO.. massive day, up at 4.30am flew to sydney and picked up the red gld, drove it 10 and half hours without radio or company to melbourne and got to meet some of the character of the car..
i think the dash is a little cross wired;
brake fluid light on all the time (despite plenty of fluid), until i turned the lights on and it went off.. so i figure its earthed to the lights..?
then got to albury and it was getting dark turned the lights on and only had parkers or high beam. it seems the stalk is jammed or broken because i couldn't squirt the wipers either..
besides these little things the car is fairly solid and straight minus a dent in the bonnet, small bit of rust on the rear right door and under the front screen (10c size). with no stereo i was expecting it to be quite noisy and rattly but was pleasantly surprised at how quiet is was.. even at 100kph you can hear it working but not screaming.
got great economy 580km from 28.5ltr only had to fill up once between sydney and melbourne.
with get some photos up tomorrow if have time..
plans...
get it ready for rego
and then drip feed save for coils and wheels,
be the daily to drive to work..
token macro badge..

Nice!
This was a neat pick up! I would have considered it if I didn't have the cabby!
good luck with it!, they're cool little cars!
Yeh Jace, 4.9! Mental! But every single km was highway so I'm expecting that to increase a little. It came with two instruction manuals and vw claims 0-100 in 18 secs, can definitely vouch for that and then some lol
Driving the coal. Low and rattly.
photos..
interiors a little tired but clean

wow, looks in great nick! Great buy IMO!
Yeah, you're off to a damn good start.
I'm planning on leaving the rust under the side window trims/seals. PITA to get the chrome bit out and it adds character anyway.
Once you've straightened out those bumpers the exterior will look fine IMO.![]()
yeh will probably look to replace the bumpers eventually, the chrome strips are done. if the rust gets through a roadie ill just hit it with some rust converter and let it be.
have been trying to get the stalk issue sorted buuut i cant for the life of me get the horn cover off, without breaking it, to take off the steering wheel, from initial glance it looks as though h/l beam switch mechanism is miss aligned and cant switch off the high beams
nice purchase mate! Clean base for a project car![]()
VW: it aint just a car, its a way of life
