I get the same thing, no idea what it is. and im running a 100% stock engine.
Car just feels flat for a sec, then goes. its usually between idle and 2200rpm for me

could be due to the advance module on the distributor. If it feels like a it's not getting as much advance as it should, maybe the vaccum operated advance isn't working.

I'd suggest looking at getting the dizzy recurved anyways, it gets rebuilt at the same time, and you wont have to run the advance mechanism afterwards (iirc). It was very resonably priced too, Pete has more info about it in his wreck to race car thread

    hope that helps. :s

well the car is running ace now and is a completely different animal...

we did a bit of a tune-up yesterday arvo which involved replacing the points in the dizzy (they were rooted), advancing the timing further to 10 advance and advanced the cam gear all the way...

the result...a much more lively and torquie motor

was raining yesterday and it was now spinning thirds easily (even with quite expensive dunlop's on the front) and in the dry in now punches out of corners and can get quite messy, just the way i wanted it ha!

we just didn't really get a chance to play around with the engine since it had been on the road but it paid off and i think now i could take a couple seconds off my wakefield laptimes...

and i forgot to mention jrad that the dizzy has already been re-curved albeit a while ago now

took a couple shot's of the car with the duckbill, initially i was a little undecided but after looking at it for a while it has grown on me...what you guys think?

also uploaded a couple pics of my cousins/mechanics/brainstrusts 75 beetle from wakefield.

please note the oil on the ground is from the old family commodore ha!

I reckon a GLS chin spoiler would look heaps better with the chrome and no flares.. But that's just me.

Hesitates is a very broad description. How much throttle input? At what RPM? Cruising? Accelerating?

Remember that you're running twin carbies, not fuel injection. It is probably a little over-carbed for your engine configuration, so you'll never have awesome, 100% smooth power down low. If you stand on it at 1500rpm in 4th or 5th gear the air speed will be snails pace and it will stumble like all ****.

yeah me too, but i've bought it now i guess i'll wait till snaps off or breaks lol i think this is a sh*t replica and is a little bigger than what it should be...

as for the perfomance issue, its all sorted now, we changed the points on the dizzy, checked the timing and advanced the cam gear and it runs ace.

yeah i had never drive twin carbs before, but i learnt on the first day you can't just stand on the throttle and expect instant response...

really happy with it at the moment, only thing to do soon is the clutch...then im going to the track again, think we're going eastern creek although i wouldn't mind going to wakefield again to see if i can improve my times...

Gotta agree, it just doesnt look right
Maybe if you had black bumpers, then yes and GTi arches, they all seem to blend in together then,
