Thanks for the tip. Will give it a go.
Change of plans (temporarily).
I found an original MK2 GTi K-jet 1800 motor (112 hp Euro version) and it would be un-Australian not to put it into a MK1. It's from Alex G's brown 1985 MK2 and it came with Alex's gearbox which has been pinned so should be a good combination for my car.
The plan is to use the plumbing and wiring (including the fusebox) from my MK2 to change it to digi so it should be an easy swap. Plus having the wiring done to CE2 specs makes it easier to do the 16v transplant when I get that motor rebuilt.
It's ironic that my MK2 donor car is the car that Alex G used as his daily while building his awesome MK1.
Who knows what I can modify (and keep the car street legal) for doing some serious track work?
I want to build the Golf for racing at Wakefield Park but still eligable for historic rego.
Mate just joined the forum and I'm based in Goulburn. Own a MKV R32. Ever what a catch up let me know.
We need to organise a local meet sometime.
Definitely need to organise a meet up for Canberra region...
Other than you, I haven’t seen them in years.
Another Question is, who will have their car registered first... you or me?
Definitely you. I've got a few other cars to get back on the road first.
