Michael's sold this MK1 to me and I should be picking it up in a few weeks. The KR motor is damaged so I'll replace it with a 9a.
2.0 16v with twin 40's in a MK1.
Can't wait to get it on the road!!!
Cheers
Paul
Picked it up today.

Yes that is a sideboard strapped to the back. Michael's neighbor was selling it cheap and I couldn't resist. The top of it is in the back of the Tarago.

LOTS of work needed.

First step is to get the 16v in and get it running. Then comes the bodywork.
My wife and kids think I'm crazy.
Wow.....i remember it been quite mint. Was it sitting under a gum tree for the last few years?
Noice one Paul :-)
Super excited for the continuation!
That's not tree sap it's rust. Whatever has dripped on to it has eaten through the paint and is attacking the metal. Most of it is surface rust but there's a lot that needs to be fixed immediately.
It'll probably buff out. ;)

This won't buff out though.

Good thing I've got another motor to go in. It's a 9a (2.0 16v) so should go ok. Would you believe I got it out of a MK1 too.

Looks great mate! Can't wait to see it. Looking forward to seeing it running again! I can help you with bodywork and paint once engine is in.
Good to see you straight into this. JB weld will fix that
Any help/tips most appreciated.
Eventually I want to paint it bright yellow like this.

Would look good with 16 x8 Contras.

JB WELD!!! I have a mate in Canada who races model cars and he pours the stuff all over the place to make his cars bulletproof. It's been a running joke between us for over 5 years.
