The track is actually well suited to the MK1 to be honest. I found that not having a rear sway bar on but not a front sway bar fitted was a real pain, as with all of the fast direction changes it was difficult to get the car to release from the previous corner. Also short shifting across the top of the hill before the crest we found sets the balance better.

The Green 16V with full interior on 15" Kumho KU31's we did just on 100 laps (with no mechanical issues unlike the Japs) and consistantly hit low 49's (49.2/3/4) so agree there is more in it for you with a dry track and some better rubber.

Maybe once I have the weiß one built we can go down for a boogie!

Really nice to see it on the track!
yeah i definately know what you mean...i found in the early stages the back kept wanting to come round on me and i was on 3-wheels around both the bottom hairpin coming onto the straight and the hairpin at the stop of the straight, and this is with both rear stress and sway-bars. but after dropping the tyre pressures and learning the best way to drive the track the car improved a lot...i think for marulan early and hard braking before the corners is the main thing and then you have to power through understeer...i felt as though if you backed off the throttle though the corners, especially through the quick s-bend coming out of the hills the car would get unsettled...i got some in-car footage to upload which was near the end of the day when my lines were getting pretty good

we definately have to go for a run when you get the white mk1 on the road for sure!

had a couple beers after work so i got a mate to drive my car home...but of course police pulled us over (again)...went over the car and found numerous issues with it...like ummmm no H-pattern on the shifter, no rubber on the acc pedal, strut braces (fair enough), no rear seat (from track day officer?)...they also thought i had a pod filter but i tried to explain it was an oil breather filter, not a pod...but he insisted that is sucks air in and can change the fuel/air mixture causing the engine to explode?...didnt really worry about the carbs, i dont think they had much idea about them...anyway, we were in the wrong i guess and they were been real asses...put the car on a defect list so next time i get pulled over its off the road...cool! can't drive the car anywhere anymore fark! unfortunately mate lost some points and copped a fine too for not displaying p plates and travelling to quick.

That's where being an old fart helps. There is no way I would have let them get away with being ignorant over things that they are defecting. I would have used phrases like "let's take this up with your superiors" and threatening to take it to court together with taking pictures of the dangerous oil breather.

There are so many times I've been railroaded in the past and now that I know what to push back on (and look old enough to be their father) I don't mind being tough but polite. Got to be polite, and never swear.

Get the defected items fixed and get back on the road. Also, try to work out why you are getting pulled up all the time. I drove my very low MK2 GTI for over a year and never got pulled over. Maybe it was because I don't look like a hoon or maybe it's because the car looked neat and tidy.
