was a full on weekend with the super sprints on saturday and the show and shine today.
had an absolute ball on saturday, couldn't be happier with the car...went flat chat all day without any real issues, think the lifters copped a hiding because there a bit noisy but other than that no realy issues..
obviously not the fastest car on the track by any means but by far the best handling car i've ever driven, was like a go kart, so happy with it. the brakes are great as well, didn't suffer any real brake fade and stopped hard all day long
a happy chappy at the moment.

aaawesome!
big congrats on getting it on the racetrack it looks perfect
so post race day, i have purchased a set of 8 new lifters and new strut top mounts as they were both not the best before wakefield and now they are obviously a little worse...will change these on the weekend as well as an oil and coolant change..
if all goes well, aiming to put a new clutch in within the fortnight.
also purchase a 2L oil catch can to prevent oil dripping for the breather filter on the rocker cover...think that will be the last of the oil leaks as I change the gasket behind the oil filter house pre wakefield.

have been brainstorming some upgrades to the golf...i'm going to leave it as in for now but will change the cam to give it more low end grunt and get it tuned properly as it's running pretty rich..
my aim in the next 6 months is to firstly save up lol and then swap a 2L bottom end into it which I have that has been built with upgraded pistons/rods and is all balanced etc..I will then look at getting a big valve 1.8 head and doing all the bits to it...valves, springs, cam etc etc...this same setup in a 75 passat wagon was doing 15 or 16's at the 1/4 mile so it should go great guns in the mk1...
i have now have a terminal disease known as "need more power"

Hahah, that's fantastic, I love it!
was told today never to run 98 Ron in carburettor engines...
was told this was the reason for my fuel consumption issues and fouling of the plugs...
i think its more so to do with the mixtures and timing which probably need to be checked after it copped a hiding a wakefield...
any thought on this? is 95 Ron the 'best' option?
