I'm more than happy as most MK1 guys are to offer you advice. Just take your time and you will see there are heaps of people here that will be able to help you out. In Adelaide there are some guys importing suspension etc, so just explore and it will all make sense.

Then theres always the lure of putting in a 16v or a VR6 but I dont want to compromise the handling. So many ideas, not enough money haha!! Slowly does it though, first things first is getting her running and regoed, its been a long time since its been on the road!!
If the 1.8 Kjet is running well you should keep it as is, there arn't too many of these in Australia.

    Good luck and have fun

Yeah my mate was saying its a bit rare, if anything I might sell it complete to someone who likes it to save it from being scraped. I bridged up the relay before and the pump is working, which was fantastic, however when I tried to crank the car, nothing happened at all besides the stereo cutting out!! The gauges on the console were working but the fuel gauge on the cluster wasnt, could this have to do with it not starting or is my starter buggered? Mind you, we had it jumped to my mates car at the time, no lack of voltage haha!!

    Did the engine wind over?

Or did it just not do anything?

Nice little project you have dude! Welcome to the clan.

Slammed Distribution are local to you and are the Australian importers for Hot Tuning. If you want to go for that stuff, deal with them.. I've seen it too many times where people have imported themselves and ended up with the wrong stuff, with no support if they have a problem.

If you want to spend the extra money, I can offer you Weitec suspension.

Definitely check Mik's FS thread for accessories. Some of his stuff is actually in my posession at the moment and I can vouch for the accuracy of his descriptions.

Nah the engine didnt wind over. The stereo cut out and when I had the lights on they went off as well. Ive got a feeling it might be the starter, my friend was tapping it as I turned the key but she refused to crank. To be honest, I couldnt even hear if the starter was clicking as the stereo has an amp and subs hooked up (oh dear), but my mate reckons he could hear it click.

Once its running and regoed, paint and suspension will be priority, thanks for the heads up Preen59

I want to turn the engine over by hand first just in case it is seized, and if it isnt, and the starter is still being a pain, kicking will be the only option

Well we tried to turn the motor over on the weekend but she wouldnt budge!! I was starting to worry the engine might have been seized, but after a little bit of WD40 and some really thin oil in the cylinders, she finally spun freely again. Cranking is working fine, but she wont start now. I'd say its because the plugs would be awfully wet + the fuel would be ridiculously stale, so tomorrow it seems a trip to Repco shall be in order. Wish me luck!!
