Good numbers with reasonable torque
Such a satisfying day. Could not have gone better! This is one hell of an achievement!

Love this man, sounds absolutely wicked!
So I've been having issues with overfueling to the carbs, resulting in flooding the float bowls and filling the air socks with fuel... After two separate engine fires I had had enough.
First mistake was switching to an electric fuel pump, as the old mechanical pump on the block was more than capable of the delivery requirements. With the addition on a regulator and pressure gauge, we should have trouble free motoring ahead.
Engine out, mechanical pump installed. Also timed the ignition and reduced the main jet size to lean out the powerband.
All back together and headed down to the Springvale cars, coffee and donuts meet.
On to rebuilding my spare gearbox(es). Should be an interesting result.

Nice..... Yeah the mechanical pump is more then enough. Good work Jordan. nothing beats building and knowing your car.
Also might want to sus out a 02j box as there becoming very affordable ATM. Also the next best thing would be the 02m 6 speed.

Quick work! You only picked up the tools a few days ago!
Nice work man. I would have thought a fuel pressure regulator would have fixed your issue with over fueling?
Also in terms of the gearbox, there really is no real reason to upgrade to the 02j as you're not making an enormous power. But the feel of the cable shifter..... wow haha. Well worth it. Also Peter, I'm pretty sure it's A LOT of work to fit an 02m in the mk1.

Yeah depending on your driving syle and the rest of the setup I guess. Na 02M conversion is now available for the mk1s George. So now we have more options hahahah.
I'm sticking with the 020 gentlemen. She doesn't make enough power to lug around the added weight of a 02A/J/M. Plus I love the cable clutch and mechanical linkage feel!
And the 020 code that will be going in, is something that I can't pass up...
