Yes and yes. But don't forget the hours and hours of work.
Strip wheels (the coral looking ones) work the best and nylon wire works better than steel, but I used a combination of all three in all shapes and sizes, plus a flap disc on a grinder. I'd advise not using excessive amounts of paint stripper as it's messy as hell and a prick to clean off every little square mm of metal.
