So am I right to just cut it out? Or should I at least relocate it

Let me guess, hot water plumbing for the rear mounted washing machine?

    Sorry, couldn't resist.

Radiator looks like it was made for the MK1.

If only that was true. Much more interesting than what it's actually for. Got to keep those wires weather tight though

Here's the plan for the weekend in a few words.

    Fix this
    And run it through there
How come no one told me how difficult this was going to be...

    Before...
    After...
239mm gti discs and calipers just became 280mm g60 discs with calibra v6 calipers.

I'll let y'all know how they perform once the car is in its feet again

Are you using adapter brackets to fit the calipers or do they bolt to the same place the old calipers bolted to? Pix please.

No adaptors needed! Opels and Vauxhalls used the same caliper bolt spacing and disc diameters as vw on their front wheel drive cars. Its possible to get Opel/Vauxhall calipers to suit both a 256mm and 280mm big brake upgrade for the mk1, just need the correct vw 4 stud discs (g60 in my case).

Only thing you need to get them to work are shoulder bolts to step the thread back down to a m10, but still hold firm in the 12mm holes on the calipers. I'll make sure I take lots of photos and part numbers for those who are interested.

So here's the recap from the weekend's work. Finished off the wiring loom gents, so here are some photos, even though it couldn't be a more boring topic...
Colour coded connections for further simplicity
Off with the dash for some more wiring upgrades
    It's seen better days
But I have a plastic dash in fair condition which will be replacing it
A little bondo and it's ready for the rest of the the next part of the restoration
Add in some new gauges and some oem goodness

Additionally to the work I've done I got some photos of the brakes that are going on for those who are interested

    Part numbers
Old bolts and new shoulder bolts for the mk1 hubs
Only issue is the brake pads overhang the inside of the friction surface, meaning it'll be a prick to remove once it starts wearing in

Can't decide what to do next... Get it running and driving, or strip it down again for a paint job? I'm open to suggestions

    Much love
