cv shaft lengths

put a later model 5 speed in the car, probably out of mk3 with the 100 mm cuplinks are the mk1 shafts compatable with the later gear boxes?

i'm asking this because i cracked the bearing cage on the inner cv which means that the outer section of the cv joint might not be in line with the inner section.

i have a feeling the distance between the the two couplinks on the later model is wider than the earlier model gear boxes
